In 2023, together with the American Boccaccio Association, Professor Stefano Zamponi (1949-2024), then president of the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio, promoted the establishment of a scholarship for a graduate student in Boccaccio studies enrolled in a North American institution. The scholarship grants the recipient :

  • Enrollment in the ENGB’s Boccaccio 650 Scuola Estiva, Un accessus a Boccaccio, in Certaldo, Italy

  • $500 scholarship

  • Up to $1000 reimbursement for travel to Certaldo to participate in the ENGB’s Scuola estiva

  • Lodging and half board in Certaldo, Italy for duration of ENGB’s summer school

This meritorious initiative conceived by the late Professor Stefano Zamponi was born to strengthen relations between the Ente Nazionale Giovanni Boccaccio and the American Boccaccio Association, to bring researchers on both sides of the Ocean closer together, and to create a new generation of young Boccaccio scholars that would transcend national boundaries.
